A Christmas wish and reminder of India's rich syncretic legacy!

A Muslim emperor of Hindustan commissioning a painting of a holy Christian legend is one of our forever favourites! A perfect example of India’s rich syncretic legacy as encapsulated in “Adoration of the Magi” (1604) makes for a great Christmas postcard. Wishing everyone the best on the birthday of the Prince of Peace!

(It’s a pity to have to underscore those identity labels, but it has become kind of important in this atmosphere of homogenisation :disappointed:)

But again, merry Christmas! Let there be much cake.
